Numero Group on Sound Opinions

For those of you who don’t already know… I love podcasts. They’re a tool I commonly use for discovering music as well as spicing up the work day. Sound Opinions is one such example that I look forward to every week. Out of Chicago, Sound Opinions can be heard on your local public radio station, or is also available for download as a podcast. The show is hosted weekly by rock critics Jim and Greg, and while I don’t necessarily always think that they’re opinions are all that sound, it’s certainly an entertaining listen for music lovers.

This past week, Jim and Greg had on the founders of Numero Group. Numero Group is an independent reissue label founded by a few folks who re-release old, obscure, and often forgotten soul tracks. Now for people who love old soul music, but don’t have the time or tolerance to hit up every garage sale or thrift store, Numero Group is a match made in heaven. Most of their releases are available on vinyl, cd, as well as mp3’s, so there’s an option for everybody. I just ordered Eccentric Soul : The Capsoul Label, which was a small label out of Columbus, Ohio and am anxiously awaiting it’s arrival. Head over to the site and shell out some money to help keep this music alive.
