Make More. Blog Less.

Hello, my name is Alex, and I’m a webaholic. It’s true, and sooner or later I must face the facts that I am addicted to the internet. The wake up call came the other morning, quite literally as I awoke and the first thing through my head was logging on. I even remember considering skipping my shower and morning tea for a few extra precious minutes online before trodding (is that a word?) off to the day job. Yes, it is that bad.

Don’t get me wrong, the internet is a wonderful tool when used in moderation. Applications like Google Reader, Image Spark, Twitter, etc… are useful for networking and finding inspiration. However more and more it seems as though it’s becoming a substitute for putting on the old thinking cap. So I put together a little regimen of 5 rules that I must follow daily.. I have a feeling I am not the only one out there with such problems, so lets all band together and try to unplug byte by byte.

1. Draw / sketch for at least 30 minutes per day.
2. Read (non-digital publications) for at least 30 minutes per day.
3. Take at least 1 photograph per day.
4. Limit mindless internet / porn consumption to 30 minutes 1 hour.
5. Make more, blog less.

So feel free to borrow from or add to my list. For those of you who have overcame such addiction, chime in and tell us how you did it.
